Thanks Barry. I stay away from “photography” in my descriptions of AI so as to be clear they are two different media. Otherwise, AI undermines the credibility of the photograph by simulating it.

This type of information is so important especially now. Please keep writing and helping us understand how photography and it's manipulation impact us all.

Great piece and insight. I’m glad I just found your Substack, been a fan of your work ever since I came across and read your 2009 book After Photography. There was a section in the a chapter about a photograph of American military landing in Iraq showcasing bravery and might, but there was also a 2nd camera from the side showing it was all staged. I became intrigued till today about how photography as a medium, in the wider realm of media, can manipulate through a strategic comms perspective. Looking forward to getting and reading your latest book and your future writings here 👍🏼

Excellent. This is just what I needed. Looking forward to reading your book. Also, I love the term Meta Photographer. Been calling my work AI Photography, but I like this better. Did you coin the term?
